History

The Pi Chapter, though a part of Delta Tau Delta, has its roots going back to the Mystic Sons of Iris, founded at the University of Mississippi in 1848, the same year the University opened. This chapter’s roots make it the oldest fraternity chapter in the south. The Mystic Sons of Iris merged with Delta Tau Delta in 1876. In 1942, the Chapter went dormant while these brave young men went off to fight in World War II. Unfortunately, no man survived.

The Pi Chapter was officially rechartered in 2023 and now consists of 114 men from all over the country working to commit themselves to lives of excellence.
